From The Chicken

Welcome to the new look Plank Magazine: all the great writing you've come to expect in a new, clean format. Props to our web-guru: Shane for giving us a great nesting pad. Part of the reason for the revamp is to allow us to add new features including a listings section, which should be up and running early this week. The listings are an experiment and to start with we will be offering a basic service for theatre and dance in Vancouver. If this feature proves popular we will expand it to include other cities and maybe other artforms. You may have also noticed that we've been rolling out advertising on the site. If you'd like to advertise on Plank, please get in touch at [email protected]. This week sees the publication of the first part of our massive, cross-country sketch comedy panel which asks the burning question: is sketch comedy art? A big thank you to Toronto-based Plank colleague Justin Haigh for this massive (and super entertaining) undertaking. Part two will appear next week. As always, we continue with our regular dance and theatre coverage. Plank is about conversation and we'd like to encourage all readers to contribute, whether in the comments box or by submitting ideas or thoughts we can post in the Plank Thots section. We're also wondering about starting a Letters to the Edtor section. If you think this is a good idea why don't you, um, write to the editor: [email protected] Oh, and our first birthday is just around the corner. Keep an eye for birthday surprises. Keep the feathers flying!
