Framed: resonates beyond the theatre

framed

Billy and Balthar, the Clown/Trixtr’/Fools in Framed encounter one another in an interesting dual dilemma of meeting one another’s needs. One seeks happiness. The other seeks approval.  Can these needs be mutually met?  What tools are needed to meet such cosmic objectives?

We have a frame through which you see me seeing you seeing me,  a good-bad sensor,  a cosmic communication device, a blond wig and a whole lot of energy.   We have authentic connection with the audience and the manic dynamic that these two generate in the space between the stage and risers and between gags and ideas is genuine and engaging.

This performance speaks to our basic yearnings and laughs at our common foibles.  The audience certainly responded well to the clever interplay between these two.  I noticed the smiles and laughter and chatter outside after the show, a really good sign that the performance resonated beyond the closing lines. Billy and Balthar are enduring characters and I have a good feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more of them at the Fringe and elsewhere.

Framed is on as part of this year's Vancouver Fringe. For more information put yourself in the Frame here.
