Author Name:

A Silent Grey Rally is being organzied for this Wednesday (9 September) at 12 noon, on the lawn of the Vancouver Art Gallery (Georgia St. side) to protest the BC Liberal Government's cuts to Direct Access Gaming Funds and the BC Arts Council. Rally members, who are being asked to dress entirely grey, will form a grey square on the lawn. Those who wish to participate have two assembly points to choose from:

Assembly point 1: meet at the Dance Centre, 677 Davie St. (Davie and Granville) on Wednesday at 11:30 am, the gathering will then walk to the Vancouver Art Gallery, where where members of the rally will stand in a silent grey square for 30 minutes.

Assembly point 2: meet at the Vancouver Art Gallery at noon. Even if you can't dress in grey to form part of the square, please come out to show your support. Even if you can't arrive right at noon, or can only spare a few minutes, please come by to show your support for the action.

The organizers have explained that the event is designed to promote unity among the charitable organizations effected by the cuts. They also stress that it is not an anti-Olympic event but is focussed, rather, on the Government and the recent cuts.
