Character by Association #3: is this fucking poetry?

Fuck. No one else is using a dialect. At the second rehearsal, we do a read through and no one else is using a dialect. Now what? Do I make a point of being the only actor in the show who bothered…? Or do I give it up? Can’t give it up, that doesn’t make sense to me, the dialect is all over Ricky Roma’s lines. This isn’t really the case with the other characters. But with Ricky, ignoring the dialect would be like ignoring the meter in Shakespeare’s verse, or doing Sherlock Holmes with the speech pattern of a California surfer, or something (that could be interesting actually).
 
Who is Ricky Roma now? A pretentious dickhead who thinks he’s smarter than everyone else. Hey… that actually is very much who Ricky Roma is. Maybe I can make this work, after all.
