Following on from yesterday’s article on the potential nuclear winter facing arts and culture in BC, PLANK Magazine has heard rumours about more organizations who have had their Gaming funds withdrawn. Two groups who have already held their events this year and are facing potential shortfalls: the BC Book Prizes (which took place in spring) and the popular Vancouver International Children’s Festival (early summer).

In addition, we have heard of two organizations – Shameless Hussy Productions (who have a show, Frozen, scheduled to open next month) and the Word on the Street Festival (which takes place at the end of September) – who have still not heard of their status in terms of funding from Gaming despite having to make decisions now about their projects.

We will try to pull this information together into a feature article.

Update: please note we were in error in reporting on the VIWF losing its Gaming grant. They have yet to had confirmation one way or the other at this point. Apologies for any inconvience caused.
